About the Joe Richer Jr. Golf Club
The Joe Richer Golf Club provides an affordable opportunity to learn and play golf for junior golfers of all income levels and ability. One of the larger youth golf programs in Washington State, the program is named in honor of Joe Richer, who bypassed a possible career on the pro golf tour in favor of a lifetime of teaching, counseling and coaching Everett area youth. He touched thousands of young lives in his 3 decade tenure at Everett High School before passing away at the early age of 55. A foundation set up in his name helps provide funding for the club and aids with financial assistance for individual junior golfers if funding is not available to participate.
The Joe Richer Golf Club is open to junior golfers ages 8 to 18 and costs just $30 to join. The Club is divided into two distinct groups: The Players in Training Club and The Players Club.
The Players in Training Club (PIT) – Ages 8 – 18*
The Players in Training consists of a weekly one hour class of golf instruction, rules and etiquette training for the new to intermediate golfer. Sessions will be held on Wednesday mornings at the practice areas at either Walter Hallor Legion Memorial Golf Courses from 9AM to 10AM on alternating weeks. The intent is to train junior golfers in golf skills and mechanics, rules and etiquette to become golfers ready for success on the golf course. These sessions will provide a fun and positive training experience. *When the junior golfer becomes accomplished enough for advancement into The Players Club, they may challenge their way into the other group through demonstrated skills in on course play even if less than 12 years old. All junior participants must be at least 8 years of age.
The Players Club (PC) – Ages 12 – 18*
The Players Club is a one day per week program of play and competition on the golf course for the intermediate to advanced player. The intent is to provide a fun, social and competitive atmosphere where young golfers can meet other golfers their age and strengthen their games to become better players. Play will run From April to October with weekly events though-out the summer. The weekly events held mostly on Wednesdays alternate between Legion Memorial and Walter Hall beginning at 11:00AM. In addition there will also be an instructional clinic for the Players Club each Wednesday before play at 10:00AM through out the summer. Managing your game on the course and tournament play will be a focused on with this group along with instruction on swing mechanics, rules and etiquette.
Joe Richer Junior Golf Club Cost
Membership: $30 (includes: membership into one of the clubs, instruction and a USGA Ghin Handicap).
Greens fees: $10 for each day of event play in the Joe Richer Players Club. Joe Richer Golf Club members may buy a 3 month golf pass for only $125. This pass is good for any consecutive 3 month period (90 days) and is valid Monday – Friday excluding holidays, April – September or everyday of the week October – March.
Program Scholarships and Financial Aid
A financial aid scholarship is available for part or the entire program. Every child should have a chance to learn and play the game of golf! Play Eligibility*: Golfers must be at least 8 years of age to play Legion Memorial or Walter Hall Golf Courses and accompanied by an adult. Golfers must be 12 years old to play the golf courses without being accompanied by an adult.
The Golf Professional at each course may waive either of the above age requirements slightly at their sole descression with proven golf and etiquette skills and golf maturity.
